Dia di Rincon (Day of Rincon)

Dia di Rincon' (Rincon Day) should not be seen as a simple annual meeting that attracts thousands of visitors from Curaçao and Aruba. It should be seen more broadly, as an important intangible heritage of the people of Rincon. Many elements of the intangible cultural heritage come together in it, such as music and song, simadan (harvest festival), the exhibition of Bonairean customs, the culinary arts of the past, etc.
The kanto krioyo festivals (creole song festivals) held in connection with Dia di Rincon, both for adults and for children, are elements that can be considered as intangible cultural heritage in themselves. There are many more activities held in the context of Dia di Rincon that culminate on this day, April 30. In 2023 it will be 35 years since Dia di Rincon is celebrated, a dream of founder Broertje Janga, which has come true.
