Inventory of Bonaire
During 2014-2018, the capacity building project: Implementation of the UNESCO 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage was held. The trainings also included inventorying of Bonaire's intangible cultural heritage with participation of the communities. The members of the UNESCO Working Group, aided by volunteers, guided the process.
The inventory, list of elements, composed for Bonaire in 2017-2018 and posted on this website is the result of several sessions and consultations in the field and with representatives of the various communities on the island. It is the intention that the Island Council of Bonaire officially ratifies this list and the elements on it in need of safeguarding.
