UNESCO Working Group Bonaire (UWB)

The UNESCO Working Group Bonaire (UWB) of five members was established by island resolution on March 3, 2015. In the short term for the coordination and monitoring of the implementation of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage and in the long term to monitor the UNESCO’s Conventions ratified by the Netherlands. At its beginning the members of the working group were:

  1. Ms. Liliane de Geus (active) – culture expert and head of the working group;
  2. Mr. Franklin 'Boi' Antoin (active) - culture expert and representative of the NGOs (including Fuhikubo);
  3. Mr. Timoteo Silberie (active) - policy advisor for culture at the Directorate of Community and Care;
  4. Mr. Melvin Meyers, working for Jong Bonaire and representing the youth;
  5. Mrs. Alca Sint Jago - policy advisor for building and historic preservation at the Directorate of Spatial Planning and Development.
